Janie Shields, a proud native of Lowndes County, Mississippi, is a dedicated professional committed to supporting victims of crimes in navigating the complexities of the criminal justice system. After graduating from Columbus High School, she pursued her passion for communication, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mississippi State University. Furthering her education, Janie obtained a Master of Arts Degree with a focus on Women’s Leadership from Mississippi University for Women.

 

In 2022, Janie assumed the role of Victim's Assistance Coordinator for Lowndes and Noxubee Counties. Her mission is to ensure that victims feel empowered throughout their journey within the criminal justice system, providing vital support and guidance.

 

Beyond her professional commitments, Janie is actively engaged in her community. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and contributes her time and expertise to various boards and committees in the Golden Triangle area and statewide.

 

Family is at the heart of Janie's life. She and her husband Cataurus are blessed with a son, Brady. In her leisure time, Janie finds joy in traveling, playing tennis, and coaching youth tennis with the Golden Triangle Tennis Association.

 

Janie Shields embodies a spirit of service, leadership, and community engagement, making a positive impact both professionally and personally.
