Internship and Shadowing Opportunities
16th Circuit Court District Attorney’s Office
The 16th Circuit Court District Attorney’s Office is committed to mentoring the next
generation of legal and public service professionals through selective internship and
shadowing programs. We offer structured internships for college and law students, as
well as limited shadowing opportunities for high school students on a case-by-case
basis.
College Student Internship Program
Our office offers internships during the Spring and Fall semesters for undergraduate
students pursuing degrees in criminal justice, political science, pre-law, or related fields.
Interns are exposed to the daily functions of a prosecutor’s office and may assist with
administrative tasks, trial preparation, and case organization.
- Availability: Up to 2 college interns per semester
- Note: We do not offer summer internships for college students.

College Student Intern Application Download
Law Student Internship Program
This internship is designed for current law students seeking hands-on exposure to criminal
prosecution, legal research, and courtroom proceedings. Interns may assist attorneys with
legal writing, case preparation, and observing or supporting court hearings.
- Availability: Up to 2 law student interns per semester (Spring & Fall)

Law Student Intern Application Download
High School Student Shadowing Program
High school students who are interested in learning more about the justice system and
public service careers are encouraged to contact our office about shadowing opportunities.
These placements are considered on a case-by-case basis, based on student interest,
availability, and scheduling.
- Duration: Up to one month
- Program Type: Observational only (no legal work)

Internships are unpaid but may qualify for academic credit depending on your school’s
policies. All interns and shadow students will be expected to maintain confidentiality and
professionalism throughout their time in the office.

The 16th Circuit Court District Attorney’s office can only accommodate TWO law student
interns per semester and ONE law student intern per summer.
